Origin of Fa-ear Oh-acks

Many of you by now may be wondering: "Why Fa-ear Oh-acks?".
Well, this is from a conversation I had with my daughter several years ago. You can often tell a tourist because they have such a hard time with difficult to pronounce place names. For instance, they may be asking the directions to Gualala, which they have only read on a map. So they say, "Pardon me, is this the road to Goo La-La?" Well, we just pity these folks, having to show their ignorance of the local area.
So my daughter said, if they ask for directions to Fair Oaks we won't know they are out-of-towners because "Fair Oaks" is easy to read and pronounce. I replied that they might go: "Pardon me, is this the road to Fah-ear Oh-acks?" in which case we indeed would know they weren't from the precincts.
